Sherlocks hit the right notes on festival weekender

-

WORK has begun on surfacing a large section of the Trans Pennine Trail in Barnsley. The surfacing work started on Tuesday and is between Moorend Lane in Silkstone Common, and Sovereign Wood in Dodworth.

This section of the trail can still be accessed, but due to the ongoing works, the space available will be narrow which may be difficult for mobility impaired users and horses to access.

The work is planned to be completed by mid-October.

BOLTON-upon-Dearne’s famous indie band, The Sherlocks, performed at Leeds and Reading festivals last weekend.

The band played at Reading on the main stage on Saturday, and opened the main stage at Leeds on Sunday.

The band said that playing at the festivals on the main stages meant a lot to them.

After a successful weekend of performing at two of the biggest music festivals in country, the band said: “Now the dust has started to settle after a crazy weekend, we wanted to take a moment to thank every single person who got up early to come down to see us play the main stages.

“We had a great time.

“You don’t really come across bands that are as DIY as us these days.

“We’re a real band and we definitely have real people supporting us.

“You always back us, and honestly, we can’t stress enough how much it means to us.

“Without you legends, we are nothing.”
