Our Lady and St James Church
Mass on Saturday will be celebrated at 6pm. Mass on Sunday will be at Holy Rood at 9.30am and also at 11am. For times of daily masses or other services please see our parish bulletin on the website.
St Thomas Parish Hall
A jumble sale will take place on Thursday at St Thomas’ parish hall on Bank End Road from 5pm.
On Sunday the OA Café Style Worship will be at 10.30am. On Monday the Knit and Natter group will be from 2-3.30pm with coffee/tea and biscuits, everyone welcome. The Thursday coffee morning is at 10-11.30am, everyone
The second XI start the month at home to near neighbours Higham, in what could be a top three clash come the first week of the month. Game starts at 12pm and has been kindly sponsored by Naylors. The first team are away in their last game of the 2022 season at Tickhill CC with game starting at 12pm. On Sunday, our Development XI are away at Denby in a Barnsley Sunday League fixture with the game starting at 1pm. This game has been sponsored by Roger Nelson.
On Sunday both our u13s 11-a-side team and u17s teams are competing in end of season cup semi finals, so good luck to both age groups. For more details go to Cawthorne Cricket Club Facebook page.
Cawthorne Museum
The museum will be open tomorrow and Sunday from 2pm-5pm. There are shelves of second-hand books in the Rose Reading Room to raise extra funds for the upkeep of the museum.
Cawthorne Over Sixties
On Monday, the over 60s’ will be in the parish room at 7pm. Estate Planning, a talk by Mr Mumford will be made – this is to help us plan the best way for us to leave what little we have, in the best way, for our families.
Mothers’ Union
On Tuesday at 10.30am the Mothers’ Union will be having their prayer meeting in the parish room, everyone welcome.
Cawthorne Wives
The Wives’ next meeting is in the parish room on Thursday. Please bring your own lunch. The Wives are again organising the Macmillan Coffee Morning which will be held on Friday September 30 at the Bottom Club 9am-12pm. Please support this worthy charity.
The following application has been submitted to the council: Alex Fleming, for an application to undertake works to trees within the Wath Conservation Area at RMBC Town Hall, Church Street.
Wath Cricket Club Fixtures
Fixtures for tomorrow are: the first XI are at home against Conisbrough first XI in the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League – Championship Division, 12pm. The second XI are away against Thorncliffe and Wentworth Cricket Club first XI in the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League – Division Three, 1pm.
Dearne Valley Ramblers
On Sunday, there will be a ten-and-a-half mile guided
RSPB Old Moor Reserve
Birds, Brass and Barnsley Tales will be taking place on Sunday September 18, from 9.30am-5pm. This is an opportunity to learn about the Dearne Valley’s heritage and history.
Chol Theatre will present a story trail from 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm, with actors around the reserve telling local tales, based upon people’s memories of pits, pickets and ponies.
There will be brass band performances.
