Rockingham relegated from Championsh­ip Wombwell Main secure promotion and are a year ahead of their target

ROCKINGHAM have been relegated after losing by 26 runs at home to Sprotbroug­h.

Aquib Shaikh took three wickets but Rockingham were all out for 171 chasing 197.

They are 30 points from safety with two games left.

Second-bottom Green Moor were skittled for 47 in a nine-wicket loss at Aston Hall and are 22 points adrift with 24 available.

Third-bottom Barnsley Woolley

Miners 2nd XI were removed for 68 in an eight-wicket defeat to Shiregreen.

Fourth-bottom Wath fell 62 runs short chasing 182 at Sheffield Collegiate 2nd XI, who had been 23 for four.

Rob Barlow took three wickets. Seventh-placed Houghton Main lost by eight wickets at Conisbroug­h.

Luke Ogden made 68 not out in Houghton’s 195.

WOMBWELL Main gained promotion from Division Five after bowling Sheffield University Staff out for 85 defending 208.

Wombwell are 18 points clear of thirdplace­d Doncaster Town 3rd XI who have just one game to play.

Tom Goldsby-West made 72 off 74 balls with seven fours and three sixes, then Ben Reeves took three wickets.

A club statement said: “Our three-year target after Covid was to have two promotions for the first team, have a second team that was establishe­d and pushing for promotion and have a junior section back at Wombwell Main. We’ve managed to do this a year quicker than our target, which is to the credit of all the players, coaches, staff, volunteers and parents.

“Things are looking really bright at the moment at Wombwell Main and long may this continue.”

Darfield are a point away from promotion from Division One, with two games left, after a 25-run victory at Rotherham Town. Kastun Stoute whacked 97 off 63 balls with seven fours and six sixes in leaders Darfield’s 270 then Will Scott and former Barnsley FC striker Jon Parkin made 65.

Dickinson three to bowl the hosts out. Darfield are eight points clear at the top.

Monk Bretton are relegated after they lost by three runs chasing 168 against Aston Hall 2nd XI in Division Two.

Ashley Clayton and Kyle Armitage took four wickets each.

Penistone were skittled for 110 in a four-wicket loss at home to Treeton 2nd XI. Chris Walmsley took three wickets.

Kexborough chased 124 for a four-wicket win over Whiston 2nd XI in Division Three. Neil Hinchcliff­e took six for 24.

Worsbrough Bridge were skittled for 111 chasing 159 at Bradfield.

Jabaar Khan took three wickets.

Wath 2nd XI chased 135 for a seven-wicket win over champions Elsecar 2nd XI. Kelham Bennett took four wickets then Sam Whitlam hit 57 not out.

Higham stayed in the third Division Four promotion place with a 111-run win at home to Barnsley Woolley Miners

3rd XI. Ricky Sephton (74) and George Deegan (82) led Higham to 239 with Barnsley’s Benjamin Bentley taking four wickets. Higham’s Joseph Green took six wickets and Ben Williams three.

Silkstone United skittled Maltby for 73 defending 159. Joe Green made 59 not out then Jakob Taylor and Thomas Grimshaw took three wickets.

Cawthorne 2nd XI posted 261 then bowled Millhouses Works out for 118.

Nicholas Lowe made 73 then Josh Holling whacked 83 off 50 balls with seven sixes. Ryan Bagshaw took four wickets.

Harley were bowled out for 99 chasing 147 at Warmsworth 2nd XI in Division Seven. Billy Goodinson took three wickets for Harley.

Steven Bamforth took five wickets as promoted Higham 2nd XI skittled Eden Grove Parklands 2nd XI for 68 in a seven-wicket win.

Barnsley Woolley Miners 4th XI won by a run at home to Whitley Hall 3rd XI who were bowled out for 84 chasing 85.

There were two hundreds in promoted Houghton Main 2nd XI’s win over Scholes in Division Eight.

Naseem Shahid hit 105 off 96 balls with 16 fours and two sixes while Matt Thornton crashed 102 off 52 with 15 fours and two sixes. Houghton made 327 then dismissed Scholes for 83 with John Cook taking four for 17.

Worsbrough Bridge 2nd XI won by 260 runs over Fishlake 2nd XI.

Scott Aranyi hit 22 fours in his 118 off 113 balls, sharing an opening stand of 202 with Robert Stubbings who made 91 off 80 balls with 14 fours and three sixes.

Ethan Sefton took four wickets to bowl Fishlake out for 49.

Wath 3rd XI won by 80 runs over

Rockingham 4th XI. Jack Lewis (80) led Wath to 194. Rockingham 4th XI had bowled Brookhouse 2nd XI out for 47 in a seven-wicket win.

Kexborough 2nd XI won by 66 runs at Upper Haugh 3rd XI. Ethan Shillito took four wickets to bowl the hosts out for 126.
