Dearne win in league then reach cup final

IT HAS been a good week for Dearne and District FC.

They won 3-2 at home to Glapwell in the league on Saturday.

Dearne were 2-1 down but Carlton Carty levelled – with his second goal of the game – then Nick Guest got a lastgasp winner in front of 208 supporters.

The Goldthorpe-based club have now taken seven points from four games this season.

Later in the week, Dearne and District reached this season’s Montagu Cup final after dumping out the holders.

Joe Austin netted the only goal after forcing in from Liam Marsden’s long throw to earn them victory over Scawthorpe Athletic on Tuesday night in Denaby.

Dearne’s opponents, on Easter Monday at Hampden Road in Mexborough, will be either Dog Daisy United or Brinsworth DC who meet on Tuesday.
