Reds may have to play Cadden early

-

BARNSLEY would like to ‘condition’ Nicky Cadden for another week but may have to play him tomorrow at Sheffeld Wednesday.

The left wing-back has been struggling with calf issues since signing in the summer.

He could be one of the only options at left wing-back if Callum Styles was sold last night.

Head coach Michael Duff told the Chronicle: “In a perfect world we wouldn’t have him involved because the reason he broke down was that we had to fast-track him a little bit “If we have to play him, we can. “But in an ideal world we would give him an extra week. But we don’t live in an ideal world.”

Josh Benson and Jordan Helliwell both limped off in the first half at Ipswich on Saturday.

Benson has a minor hamstring problem but could play tomorrow, whereas Helliwell’s thigh issue will keep him out for six to eight weeks.
