Spike in thieves targeting cars

POLICE have received a number of reports of keyless cars being targeted over the past few days.

Officers from Barnsley Central Neighbourhood Policing Team say thieves are targeting Ford EcoSport vehicles, and are encouraging owners to take steps to reduce the chance of theft.

A spokesperson said: “Don’t make it easy for thieves, check your car is locked before you leave it.

“It’s also a common design feature for car wing mirrors to fold in when locked, making it easy for savvy criminals to spot an unlocked target.”
