St Paul’s

Rev Cannon Ian Wildey celebrated the family mass last Sunday, he was assisted at the altar by Lynda Brown and Debbie Griffin. Side duties by Janice Rees and Beryl Watson. First reading from the Book of Wisdom was read by Sarah Dewey. The choir sang the Psalm. The second reading from the letter of St Paul. To the Philemon was read by David Dewey. Cannon Wildey read the Gospel and gave the sermon. Prayers were led by Charles Wraith. The mums and toddlers group has resumed and is held on Mondays at 10am. Next Sunday the mass will be at 10am.

Chapel

The service last Sunday was led by Jean Elvin with various members taking part. The organist was Rosemary Denman. Tomorrow the monthly coffee morning will be held at 10.30am and all are welcome. The morning service on Sunday will be held at 10.30am and will be led by Helen Bellamy. The 27th Guides meet on Tuesdays from 5.45-7.15pm and yoga takes place from 7-8pm. ‘Hartbeeps’ meet on Wednesdays from 10am-3.30pm. There is One Stop shop from 9.45-11am on Thursday. U3A Dancing takes place on Fridays from 7-9pm. Next Sunday the service at 10.30am will be led by Rev Eileen Sanderson. The next friendship cafe will take place on Tuesday October 4 from 2-3.30pm.

Sun

Playing in the Wednesday night Smithies league, the Sun lost 5-2 to Pheasant. Every Friday night from 8pm is the speed quiz and last week’s winners were Me, Him and Her who scored 292 points. Sunday afternoon entertainm­ent live at five is Rock and Rose.

Club

Playing in the Monday night pool league, Monk Bretton beat Railway A 4-3. The team was Josh Juhasz, Steve Juhasz, Les Price, Glyn Ashton, Neil Hogley and Dave Woodruff. Bingo is played every Thursday night from 8.30pm. Entertainm­ent tomorrow is ‘Strykes Twice’ on stage from 8.45pm. On Sunday afternoon ‘Toronto’ will be on stage from 3.45pm.

Pheasant

The Ladies Section hold a quiz and bingo night every Tuesday from 8pm. Playing in the Wednesday night Smithies league, Pheasant beat Sun 5-2. The team was Duane Etheringto­n, Lewis Carpenter, Josh Juhasz, Steve Juhasz, Andy White, Dougie Christmas and Les Price. Thursday night is Buskers night and last night Ray Denver entertaine­d. Chris King will be entertaini­ng next week.
