Khursheed stars as Darfield are promoted to Championsh­ip with game to spare

DARFIELD have been promoted from

Division One to the Championsh­ip with a game to spare after a home win over Oughtibrid­ge.

Saman Khursheed made 60 not out off 64 balls at number seven in Darfield’s

262 then he took five for 15 off 11 overs to skittle the visitors for 169.

Carlton Dickinson took four wickets for Darfield who are eight points clear at the top so will be champions if they win their last game.

Darfield’s Kris Jowett said: “We are very pleased to have secured promotion. It was our goal at the start of the season so it was important we hit that target.

“It now means we have lots of hard work to do over the winter to ensure we compete at the next level and can push the club on further.”

Monk Bretton were bowled out for

129 chasing 271 at Caribbean Sports in

Division Two.

Penistone were removed for 121 chasing 198 at Hallam 2nd XI. William Tyas had taken five wickets and former Barnsley FC player Scott Jones three.

Worsbrough Bridge won by 60 runs at home to Tickhill 2nd XI in Division Three. In Bridge’s 278, Reece Sellers made 63 then Alex Littlewood hit 59 not out off 42 balls and Shak Jamil smashed six sixes in his 81 off 43 balls.

Adam Wiles scored 69 but

Kexborough’s 175 was not enough in an eight-wicket loss at Frechevill­e.

Champions Elsecar 2nd XI dismissed Whiston 2nd XI for 92 in a five-wicket win. Matthew Tonks took five for 19 and Richard Stump four for 38.

Wath 2nd XI chased 147 for a four-wicket win at Thorncliff­e and Wentworth.

Scott Hibbert whacked 73 off 47 balls with eight fours and four sixes.

Wath seconds could gain promotion on the final day if they win and other results go their way.

Higham’s promotion hopes in Division Four are over after they were beaten by ten wickets against Cawthorne 2nd who overtook them in the third and final promotion place with one game left.

Higham were bowled out for 175 then Cawthorne’s Nicholas Lowe hit 111 not out off 103 balls with 18 fours and a six, while Ryan Bagshaw added 51 not out.

Christophe­r Barracloug­h took six for six off 10.1 overs as Silkstone United dismissed Whiston Forge for 110 in a three-wicket win.

Barnsley Woolley Miners 3rd XI bowled Maltby out for 74 in a nine-wicket win. Joshua Hartfield took five wickets and Callum Bailey four.

Wombwell Main are Division Five champions after bowling out Darfield 2nd XI for 115 in a nine-wicket win.

Richard Wilkinson took seven wickets then carried his bat with 69 not out off 47 balls including ten fours and three sixes.

Mark Elsworth took seven for eight as Green Moor 2nd XI removed hosts Sprotbroug­h 3rd XI for 16 in a nine-wicket Division Six win.

Penistone 2nd XI fell 21 runs short chasing 157 against Sheffield United 2nd XI. Harry Burton had taken four wickets.

Harley fell 24 runs short chasing 230 at home to Frechevill­e 2nd XI in Division Seven.

Sam Sverdloff took six wickets then made 63 with Sam Lowery adding 60.

Higham 2nd XI won by 153 runs at home to Thorncliff­e and Wentworth

2nd XI. Richard Heeley (72) and Harry Bamforth (51) led Higham to 268 for four then Paul Wroe took four wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 115.

Worsbrough Bridge 2nd XI won by 47 runs at Scholes in Division Eight.

Robert Kennedy (64) and Kevin Sherif (66) led Bridge to 219 then Sherif took four for 16.

Silkstone United 2nd XI removed

Rockingham 3rd XI for 78 defending 149.

Martyn Hewitt took four wickets for Rock and Oliver Thomas did so for Silkstone.

Houghton Main 2nd XI made 172 then bowled out Stocksbrid­ge 2nd XI for 135.

Wombwell Main 2nd XI skittled Brookhouse 2nd XI for 79 in a ten-wicket

Division Nine win. Henry Skelton and Rob Owen took four wickets each.
