Work goes on to repair memorial

BARNSLEY Museums and Heritage Trust are continuing to raise money to restore a town centre war memorial.

They are fundraisin­g to repair the ‘Light Lines’ artwork which was dedicated to the Barnsley PALS who were lost at the Battle of Somme.

The artwork features three Barnsley brothers – Fred, Charles, and Ernest Walker – who died in action during the battle.

Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust are urging people to donate to allow the artwork to be restored.
