Work to start on giant warehouse

A CONSTRUCTION firm has been appointed to deliver a 340,000 sq ft industrial unit in Barnsley.

It was announced on Tuesday that Glencar had been appointed by Firethorn Trust to create the unit at the Gateway 36 development.

The 24-acre prime logistics site – known as Barnsley 340 – will comprise 320,000 sq ft of logistics accommodation and a further 20,000 sq ft of office space.

Pete Goodman, Glencar managing director, said: “We look forward to getting started on this project and delivering a first class outcome to the net zero in construction benchmark specification which is rapidly becoming the new norm in the sector.”

Work will begin on the site later this year and completion is due later next year.
