The Book of Condolence

In memory of Queen Elizabeth II, the book of condolence, situated in St Peter’s Church, was signed by 124 residents. Many others attended the church for private prayer and reflection.

Afternoon Tea

The afternoon tea will resume as normal at 1pm next Tuesday. Ever yone is welcome.

Tankersley Parish Council

The monthly meeting will be held on Monday and will be in the senior citizens room of

The Hub at 7pm.

The Annual Parish Bonfire and Firework Display

The annual bonfire and firework display will be held on Saturday November 5.

Harvest Social Event

The event held in Tankersley Hub on Tuesday last week attracted more than 70 visitors. Harvest platters were served between 4-6pm and all proceeds will go towards church funds.

Byegone Bikes Yorkshire

The Byegone Bikes will be holding a sale of vintage cycles and accessorie­s in The

Hub on Sunday October 9. Doors open from 9am and everyone is welcome to view some interestin­g memorabili­a, refreshmen­ts will be available.

Services

There will be a service at St Peter’s at 9.30am on Sunday and another service at 4pm at St Paul’s in Pilley.

Age UK

Healthy Living sessions for the over 50s are held between 10am-midday on Wednesday mornings in the Welfare Hall of The Hub. Activities include armchair exercise and healthy eating. Contact Karen Dennis on 776820 for more details.

Youth Football Coaching Sessions

The coaching sessions will resume next Monday on the Bowling Green at 6pm.

Halloween Children’s Party

Tankersley Community Associatio­n are holding an event in The Hub, similar to last year’s very popular Halloween Party, on Saturday October 29. A children’s entertaine­r has been booked and a halloween fancy dress competitio­n will be held. A carved pumpkin competitio­n will be held on the Bowling Green from 5pm before the main party. A licensed bar will be available for adults. Admission is £2 per head by pre purchased wrist band which are available from David Crossley on 0797081857­5. Tickets are being bought fast.

The Hub Tuck Shop

The tuck shop is now open on weekends only following the end of the school summer holidays. Refreshmen­ts are available for all to enjoy. Card payments are now being accepted. Opening times are from 1-4pm.

Worsbrough councillor­s presented children who took part in a summer reading challenge with prizes. All children who completed the challenge were awarded with a certificat­e, medal and a goodie bag.

The challenge took place during the holidays to encourage more children to take up reading.

Coun John Clarke said: “The councillor­s would like to thank the library staff, Sheila Bentham and Chelsea Smith, for organising the challenge, and the children for taking part. “A special thank you to the parents and carers for supporting their children to complete the challenge.”
