Takeaway refused over obesity fears

-

PLANS to change a former Darfield shop into a takeaway have been turned down because of high levels of obesity in the area.

An application for a unit on the former Foulstone school was submitted in May but it was rejected by the council’s planning board this week.

A decision notice said: “The proposed change of use would introduce a hot food takeaway in an area where there is already a high concentration of this use, high levels of obesity and proximity to community uses, contrary to the council’s health and wellbeing agenda.”
