Parking charges plan is rejected

-

CONTROVERSIAL plans to introduce parking charges at a car park have been dismissed by Barnsley Council – leaving a local MP ‘delighted’.

Miriam Cates, MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge, said she was thrilled with the news at Langsett Flouch and called on a similar decision to be made on plans for nearby Langsett Barn.

She said: “I am delighted to hear that Barnsley Council have refused planning permission for the installation of car parking payment infrastructure by Yorkshire Water at Langsett Flouch car park following objections from myself and a number of local residents.

“I have also raised strong objections to the similar application at Langsett Barn.

“That particular application is being dealt with by the Peak Park Authority but I have written to Peak Park today to make them aware of the Flouch decision, to ask when they are due to make a decision on the application for Langsett Barn and to urge them again to refuse permission for car park charging.”
