MP’s praise for plan
]PENISTONE and Stocksbridge MP Miriam Cates has backed the government’s plan to support businesses during the energy crisis.
She described the Energy Bill Relief Scheme for non-domestic energy customers such as businesses, public sector organisations and charities as an ‘important scheme’.
Ms Cates added: “The scheme will provide a discount on gas and electricity unit prices for businesses, which will be fixed lower than the anticipated wholesale price for the next six months. The discount will be applied automatically to organisation’s energy bills.
“I welcomed this important support for businesses, and went on to urge the Business Secretary, Jacob Rees Mogg, to confirm that he is also looking at a longterm energy strategy for steel, noting that high energy industries like steel have suffered from uncompetitive energy prices for far too long.”
