Morning prayer will take place today, tomorrow and Tuesday at 9am on Zoom. Cafe mass will begin at 10.30am in the Parish Hall and will start with a light breakfast. The venue is easily accessible and welcoming to those who aren’t used to being in the church, an important part of our missional work. On Sunday the parish mass will be held at 10.30am and this will also be streamed on Zoom. In the evening, Choral Evensong will begin at 5.30pm. On Tuesday at St John’s, a study group will be held at 1.30pm discussing the subject of prayer. For those who can’t attend, this will be streamed on Zoom on Thursday at 7.30pm. Later on Tuesday, there will be a said mass using the Book of Common Prayer at 7pm followed by the Office Half Hour for those enquiring about weddings, baptisms and funerals. Choir practice will be held at 6.30pm on Wednesday and everyone is welcome. On Thursday, morning prayer will take place in the church at 9am followed at 9.30am by a midweek said mass. All Saints are supporting the food bank at St George’s as part of giving to those in need. Cans of rice pudding are being collected this month but other items of food can also be left in the church to support this cause. There will be no Mothers’ Union coffee morning due to the fun day being held in the park.

Music and events at All Saints

On Saturday, October 15 at 7pm, the Thurnscoe Harmonic Male Voice Choir will present their autumn concert. Tickets are £8 and will include interval refreshmen­ts. On Sunday, October 16, Elizabeth Charleswor­th and Hugh Finnegan will present a programme of music celebratin­g the years between the two Queen Elizabeth’s. Free admission but there will be a retiring collection and will also include interval refreshmen­ts. On Saturday, October 29, Pierre Maciag will be in the church to advise on the value of most fine art items including furniture, ceramics, silverware, coins and paintings. So dig out all those heirlooms, dust them down and bring them along.

Services

There will be a service at St Peter’s at 9.30am on Sunday and at Pilley Methodist Church at 4pm. The Harvest Festival services will be held next Sunday. All food donations will be distribute­d amongst worthy causes. Donations of dry or tinned food and any other useful commoditie­s such as toiletries should be delivered to the church on the day of the service. A memorial service for Elaine Potter will be held at the Methodist Church at 3pm on Sunday and a

‘Village Link’ afternoon for a chat with refreshmen­ts will be held on Thursday. Everyone welcome.

Afternoon Tea

This will continue as normal at 1pm on Tuesday afternoons. Everyone welcome.

They will be holding a sale of vintage cycles and accessorie­s in The Hub next Sunday. Doors will open at 9am and everyone is welcome to view some interestin­g memorabili­a. Refreshmen­ts will be available.

Halloween Children’s Party

The event on Saturday, October 29 is now sold out. Sadly, due to capacity restrictio­ns imposed by fire regulation­s, no one can be allowed in without a wrist band.
