Funding deal is music to Pete’s ears
A BARNSLEY entrepreneur has helped secure funding for a medical technology start-up which uses soothing music as medicine.
Pete Downton, 51, started his career with more than a decade at Warner Music Group and now helps a range of tech start-up companies.
He recently worked with MediMusic’s CEO Gary Jones to help secure £1.2m of investment, including £200,000 from Finance Yorkshire which is based in Barnsley.
MediMusic has created an app which can be used in hospitals, dental surgeries and care homes to manage chronic pain or support patients before and after surgery.
Pete said: “It’s been fantastic to play a part in scaling-up MediMusic.
“What they are doing is revolutionary – using music as medicine to ease pain, anxiety and stress.
“I’ve worked with a lot of start-ups in the past but this has the potential to be a world-beater.”
