Students’ chance to go on site

BARNSLEY College students had the chance to visit an excavation site as part of their course.

Construction and engineering students observed the 2.5-metre-deep site, on Wellfield Road, to gain an insight into the industry.

Kai Allot, a student on the course, said: “It was a massive eye-opener, it really helped my understanding.

“They showed us some interesting ways of finding wires underground which we weren’t aware of before.

“There’s learning about something in the classroom and then there’s seeing it in practice, which is totally different.”
