The annual giant coffee morning held at The George pub raised a magnificent £1,100 for Macmillan nurses. Landlord Dean Wyatt thanked all supporters and helpers and of course all the bakers. He said: “This was a wonderful effort.”

Badger Talk

Members of the Denby Conservation Association enjoyed a very interesting talk by a member of the

Badger Trust at the start of their monthly meeting on Saturday. The trust welcomed the group’s support. A spokesperson said: “They are volunteers and the community has benefited twice from the group by collecting casualties from local roads. They are big animals and it is so sad to see them get killed. But stopping people from speeding is something we can control. It was suggested that the badger group receive a donation of £50 for their work.
