3 medals for Sue in Greece

SUE BAILEY warmed up for next month’s World Championsh­ips with two silvers and a bronze medal in the Greek Open in Argostoli.

The Dodworth woman and Paralympic bronze medalist was part of the Great Britain squad.

She won all three of her singles group games and the quarter-final then, in the semi-final, came from two sets down to make it 2-2 but lost the decider 11-6.

She teamed up with Megan Shackleton – whom she won bronze with in Tokyo last year – to win all three group games in the women’s doubles but lost to a French pair in the final.

Bailey then won mixed doubles silver with Jack Hunter-Spivey, winning two of their three matches.

Sue said: “I’ve played really well. I feel it is the best I’ve played all year.

“The work I’ve been doing at home with my coaches Ben Barlow and Scott Robertson over the last few weeks has really paid off and there has been such improvemen­t with my backhand and forehand.

`”There are areas I need to focus on but it has been a huge positive.”
