BARNSLEY Women’s FC will ‘dust ourselves down’ after a first defeat of the season.

The Reds were beaten 1-0 at home to Stockport County on Sunday.

They remain top of the National League Division One North with 13 points from six games.

Coach Lois Daniels said: “We had multiple final third entries and numerous chances, but it wasn’t our day.

“The girls’ character and fight throughout the game was second to none, but it wasn’t to be, so we dust ourselves down and come into the next game hungry. “What a start to the season it’s been for us.

“We have nine points more than this time last season.

“We’ve got a fantastic squad, who are hungry to win.

“We trust our process and our journey and know what this team has to offer.” Barnsley host Liverpool Feds in the FA WNL Cup on Sunday, from 2pm at Houghton Main’s ground.

Daniels said: “Liverpool Feds is always a game I look forward to.

“I like how they play, I like what they’re about and we always have competitive and exciting battles against them.

“After Feds getting promoted last year, I’ve followed their games closely, watching them pick up strong results and I am excited for the game that’s in store for us.”
