Patrols in position in Mapplewell Park

PATROLS have been introduced at an antisocial behaviour hotspot following a call for action by fed-up locals.

Youths, accused of starting fires and damaging equipment at Mapplewell Park, have been warned to expect more police and council officers at the venue as a result.

Having began last Thursday, the two authorities came together in a bid to assure locals through their so-called Joining Forces scheme.

Coun Steve Hunt, who joined the teams on a walkabout, said: “This initiative will robustly tackle the problems that we have seen in the park since the end of last month.”
