Mum is left feeling the cold...

-

A BOLTON-UPON-DEARNE mumof-five has been left at her wits’ end after living in freezing conditions for months.

Gemma Rodgers, 33, saw scaffolding placed on her home on Hall Broome Gardens in February – and after months of work she says it’s still not complete despite the equipment being removed. Then, four months ago, Berneslai Homes reportedly came to her home and turned her gas off due to corroding pipes. With winter and freezing temperatures on the horizon, Gemma has been forced to take her youngest child, who is just three, to her parents’ house just to keep warm.

She told the Chronicle: “I’ve had to buy heaters from my own money.

“I’ve been ringing every day for more information and they said they had a temporary house for us. I packed away and then they said it’s not ready yet.

“It’s only going to get worse – I’m begging for something to be done.”

A spokesperson for Berneslai Homes told the Chronicle: “We have been working with and supporting the family. We have recently identified a property to enable them to be rehoused on a temporary basis, whilst the extensive repairs including the heating is carried out in their current home. This should be available imminently.”
