Fresh plans for site in Dodworth

-

PLANS to demolish a vacant social care facility building in Dodworth and replace it with a new nursery have been submitted to the council.

If approved, the former facility on High Street – which has been empty for more than a year – will be torn down to make way for the new Willow Day premises.

A planning report states: “Willow Day wishes to erect a new purpose built property on the site of 2A Dodworth High Street for the sole purpose of providing quality, accessible, reliable, affordable and much needed daycare for the local community.

“If the application is successful we would also like to complete the community garden at the front of the property to provide a focal point for the local community.

“Willow Day Nursery Limited will provide high quality care and education for children from three months to five years, support parents and carers to access work, provide additional jobs within the community, establish links with St John’s Primary School and local childminders, offer ‘stay and play’ sessions and act as a hub of support for families where appropriate advice and support can be given.

“Our aim is to start children on the path to lifelong learning and set the firm foundations for them to achieve all that they wish in a safe, secure, stimulating and nurturing environment where every child’s needs are met.

“The team firmly believe that the development of the whole child is central to all that we do.

“This will be achieved by providing a safe, stimulating, exciting and nurturing environment where secure relationships are built, education and experiences are of a high quality and links are made with the local community and wider world.”

A total of 44 neighbours have been made aware of the application, with no appeals to date.

Public consultation ends on November 4.
