Wins for Ladies and Wath but Barnsley men lose again
BARNSLEY RUFC Ladies and Wath RUFC men gained impressive wins this week but Barnsley’s men were once again defeated.
The Ladies won 24-19 at Harrogate in Championship North, the second tier in English women’s rugby.
Barnsley are now fifth with two wins and two draws from their four games so far this season.
They are next in action at home to Kenilworth on November 5.
Wath are top of Yorkshire League Two after a 56-14 home win over Yarnbury.
The try-scorers were Adam West, twice, Alex Roebuck, Anthony Kenney, Sean Hopper, Joe Earp, Jack Whitlam and Tom Quinn. Whitlam also kicked eight conversions.
Wath are now due to visit third-placed Wensleydale tomorrow.
Barnsley went down 71-8 at North Ribblesdale.
The Shaw Laners have pulled out of two matches, earning them two fivepoint deductions, and have been heavily beaten in the other four.
That leaves them 22 points adrift in the bottom two.
Tomorrow they are due to host second-bottom Northallerton.
