Keith Hill’s first home game in charge of Barnsley saw them crash out of the EFL Cup. Ricardo Vaz Te made his debut but Danny Carlton and Kevin Ellison got the goals for the visitors.

Barnsley went 2-0 up early thanks to Tom Bradshaw and an own goal. Morecambe replied just before the break then Bradshaw got his second seconds after the interval. Joe Williams then conceded a disputed penalty which Morecambe netted before levelling on 81 minutes. The EFL Cup tie looked like it was heading to penalties but Ryan Hedges scored a fine goal from the edge of the box in the 89th minute.
