- Jensen Weir

THE 20-YEAR-OLD attacking midfielder is the Shrimps’ joint top-scorer this season with three league goals.

Weir – the son of former Rangers and Everton centre-back and ex-Sheffield United manager David Weir – began his career at Wigan Athletic but was signed for £500,000 by Brighton and Hove Albion, where his father is now technical director, aged 17.

He is yet to play for the Premier League Seagulls and was loaned out to Cambridge last season before joining Morecambe on loan for this campaign.

The other joint top-scorer is Kieran Phillips, a striker on loan from Huddersfie­ld Town.

Cole Stockton, who scored 26 goals last season, is yet to net in 11 this campaign after handing in a transfer request but missing out on a summer move.

Arthur Gnahoua has also been threatenin­g at times this season.
