U18s beat Blades to stay top of league

BARNSLEY under 18s won 2-1 at home to Sheffield United to stay top of their league.

After Theo Chapman’s opener was cancelled out, Leo Farrell won a penalty which Rafael Monteiro converted.

The young Reds have won five of their six league games so far.

They are now due to visit Peterborough United tomorrow then host Sheffield Wednesday a week today at 7pm.

The under 21s drew 1-1 at Birmingham City on Monday, with Fabio Jalo netting a 90th-minute equaliser.

They are now due to host Crewe Alexandra on the ‘showcase’ training pitch from 1pm today.

Barnsley under 18s have been drawn at home to Spennymoor Town in the FA Youth Cup.
