IS this Yorkshire’s best burger joint? Owner Rob Green certainly thinks so...

Cow and Cream, based on Peel Retail Park on Harborough Hill, has been open for 18 months building up quite the reputation in Barnsley.

Rob, who was forced into redundancy during the during Covid pandemic, is a local business man who lives within a stone’s throw of the unit and has always had the dream of opening up a burger restaurant.

When the opportunity arose, he and his partner John Dunning jumped at the opportunity.

Offering 100 per cent British beef burgers, smashed and stacked with whichever toppings you could possibly want, the joint also offers creamy milkshakes and desserts for food lovers to enjoy.

Rob said: “From the first bite to the last, we only serve your choice of fresh, personalised burgers, desserts and shakes at our legen-dairy restaurant and takeaway.

“Because whether you’re eating in or eating out, we believe grazing on great food brings friends and families together. We never freeze anything, all our meat comes in fresh every day.

“Our chips are made fresh daily from a potato farm in Sheffield

“We serve 100 per cent chicken burgers grilled to perfection, too and we have a large selection suitable for vegans or vegetarians. We want to offer a really good product at a really good price. Honestly, I think we have the best burger.

“You can taste it’s not frozen we’re the best burger I’ve had. Despite the rising cost of living hitting us all, Rob decided he wouldn’t put his own increasing costs onto his customers.

“We’re conscious that we’re in a tough economic climate and we want to give back to the people of Barnsley,” he said.

“We appreciate that times are hard and people have got bills to pay and everyone wants good value.

“That’s why we launched the kids eat free offer, to let people know that it’s affordable for everyone.

“This store has been open for 18 months now.

“Business is good, we’ve seen a bit of an impact with cost increase and energy cost increases but we’ve not passed any of that onto the customer.

“We’ve maintained our prices, we’ve not put any of that up because we appreciate people want good value for money.”

Rob is happy to put his burger up against any other in the county and the reviews he’s had back his big claim.

He employs 20 local people, and since he opened his second store in Sheffield 6 months ago he has plans to open a further 3 stores next year

“This is always something

I’ve wanted to do and I am incredibly proud of the quality product we serve, we operate the store to the highest standards and this is reflected in the recent 5* food hygiene rating we have just received from the local authority”
