Online abuse arrests declined

SOUTH Yorkshire Police recorded fewer arrests for online abuse and malicious communications in the last year.

They bucked the trend as there was increase inn prosecutions across England Wales.

Figures, brought forward by a Freedom of Information request, show 457 arrests were made in 2021 – with many across Barnsley.

It is a decrease on the previous year’s figures where 570 arrests were made.
