Academy leaders are preparing for their new exhibition which will showcase pupils’ enthusiasm on art.

The school wants to promote art – this being in line with Barnsley’s learning strategy for 2030 of developing skills, talent and creativity among people of all ages.

Students have worked on their art for up to eight weeks now in preparation for their presentations on Monday.

Teacher Natalie Graham told the Chronicle: “We’ve implemented a really strong curriculum for the children to follow whilst putting their skills to work.

“They love it and seeing how hard they’ve worked makes me really proud – they’ve been able to articulate their work and that makes me really happy.”

Money will be raised at the event for funding art materials to allow the students further opportunities.

Parents will be given the opportunity to buy framed-versions of the portraits painted by the children which will also help provide funds for more equipment.

Twelve pieces of work have also been submitted to the competition held by the Rotary Club – this will be their third contest this year due to their success.

Ashley Jackson – the internationally-renowned Barnsley artist – will be judging the contest on November 19 with all visitors welcome.
