It is ok to take your time...

-

WHEN planning a funeral, there are many things to think about and decide and it is often a difficult time for family and friends who are dealing with loss.

Don’t feel as if you have to act quickly or on impulse, make sure that you choose a funeral that is right for you financially and for the person who has died.

Make notes of what you would like beforehand, that will help you be clear in the planning stages, which is, more often than not, likely to be a bit of an ordeal.

Many people choose to use a funeral director and they can give helpful guidance and utilise their years of expertise to make the process as easy as possible.

You also don’t have to use a coffin.

There’s nothing in the law that says you have to.

There are many options open to you to choose the best send-off possible for your loved on.

Don’t feel pressured into picking an expensive coffin – all good funeral directors will talk you through the range of options open to you.

You may also want to consider a natural burial ground, such as a woodland.

These are often much cheaper than a traditional cemetery and may not charge a ‘non-resident’ fee, which applies if the person who died didn’t live in the area.

If you’re considering cremation, pick a cheaper slot, if available, such as an early morning or a weekday slot can also lower the cost.

The funeral can be as affordable or as expensive as you like.

It is, ultimately, up to you.
