U21s beat leaders to move off bottom

-

BARNSLEY under 21s ended a fivematch winless run with a 3-0 home success over league leaders Sheffield United on Tuesday.

Playing on the first team pitch, the Reds fielded a strong side including first team squad players Jack Walton, Adam Phillips, Jack Aitchison and Ziyad Larkeche.

Jasper Moon opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a 25-yard strike then Will Hondermarck headed in a second on the stroke of half-time after fine work by Harrison Nejman and Rudi Pache.

Fabio Jalo secured the win after a defender gifted him the ball then Moon was sent off late on.

The win meant Barnsley moved off bottom of their league, replaced by Sheffield Wednesday.

They are now due to visit Wigan Athletic on Monday from 1pm.
