Getting out and about is a lifeline for some people

-

NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED

With regards to the buses in Wilson Street/Aldham House area, we currently have one bus that takes you to Wombwell and back.

So, if you want to go Barnsley, you need to catch the 223 (if it turns up) to Wombwell.

Same if you want to come back from Barnsley…

We’ve been told we have adequate buses for this estate – tell that to someone who goes down to Newsome Avenue to get a bus to go to Wombwell or to Cortonwood then walk back up Wilson with bags of shopping in the wind and rain.

Bear in mind that this estate has a lot of older people – how is this helping them?

The older generation have had two years of having their world turned upside down, wearing masks, stuck at home, seeing noone.

For some people – not just the elderly – getting out and about is their lifeline. A day shopping or going to see people.

How can we do this with a bus service that is putting profit before people?
