Staff deserve a pay rise

Having just been in Barnsley Hospital for a fortnight, I must thank them.

Staff were wonderful, they were polite, respectful and nothing was too much trouble.

They never stopped helping me.

Thank you Barnsley Hospital – the ones who were rude, ignorant and disrespectful were some of the patients.

I was ashamed of them, they were of my age group (I’m 89) and they used vile language to the nurses, made extraordinary demands and one was racist.

They kept saying they were old enough to demand respect but I told them you earn respect.

The nurses accepted it with grace and carried on.

They deserve a very good pay rise and more staff without having to think about striking which they don’t want to do.
