Veterans invited to war memorial on Sunday

-

DETAILS of Barnsley Council’s Remembrance service have been revealed.

At 11am today, the Mayor of Barnsley Coun Sarah Tattersall will be observing a minute silence in front of the war memorial at the town hall.

This will be followed by a short service which will include students from Barnsley Sixth Form College reading a poem.

Students from several local schools will also lay wreaths and artwork.

A spokesperson added: “We’re inviting representatives of our armed forces community to lay wreaths alongside the mayor. This will honour the recognition they deserve.

“For everyone’s safety and to make sure that there is enough crowd control, it’s vital that representatives are registered in advance.”
