Chance to take a seat in Hoyland...

- By Jack Tolson

AGE Friendly Barnsley has unveiled its latest ‘Take a Seat’ bench in Hoyland last week to improve accessibility for older residents.

The bench is situated at Milton Pond, in partnership with Age UK Barnsley, Mates of Milton Community Group and local contractors AES Fabrications.

Age Friendly Barnsley chair Debby Bunn told the Chronicle: “We are delighted to see the latest bench installed as part of the Take a Seat campaign.

“This initiative came about through extensive consultation with older people into what they wanted to see in our open spaces and we are very pleased now to have installed a number of benches right across the borough.

“Take a Seat is making a huge difference to accessibility for older people, and we are expanding the campaign now to include shops and local businesses. I would like to say a big thanks to the Mates of Milton for their work on the project and to AES Fabrications for their instrumental support – including making, installing and part-funding the bench – this would not have been possible without them.”
