Syringes discovered in Monk Bretton

-

A COUNCILLOR has told locals to be wary after drug paraphernalia was found in Monk Bretton.

Heysham Green and Monk Bretton Quarry have been mentioned most frequently by residents who have found these needles.

Coun Steve Green told the Chronicle he is aware of the reports.

He said: “I will be looking into this and contacting others on the council – anyone that finds these are welcome to contact me.”

BARNSLEY East MP Stephanie Peacock joined South Yorkshire Police for a walkabout last week.

The Labour MP visited the Worsbrough area, in particularly Bank End, where there has been a recent rise in antisocial behaviour – and has been labelled as a ‘hotspot’ for crime by the police. Stephanie said: “I know there are ongoing concerns about the disused youth club next to the family centre.

“The police have been working hard on this and have assured me that action is due to be taken, especially after yesterday’s fire.

“I have also written to the

Police and Crime Commissioner to ask that the issue is escalated, and that demolition of the building is strongly considered. “If you have got any got any concerns about crime and antisocial behaviour across Barnsley East, please get in touch via stephanie.peacock.mp@parliament.uk.”
