Three home wins for Wales

-

HOST club Micky’s Athletic had three winners on their amateur show at the Metrodome on Wednesday evening.

They came in the second half of the bill with Chris Woodhall getting the first victory with a unanimous decision against Legions’ Billy Armistead.

Kerry Orton, on her debut for the club, was also victorious.

She led off a rapier jab to beat national finalist Billy Jarmolinski, from LA Boxing, on a split decision.

Senior Luke Burns closed out the show. He won a thrilling Barnsley derby against Jonny’s Liam Ratcliffe on a split decision verdict.

Max Dalby from Micky’s was unfortunate not to have his hand raised.

He was edged out on a split by

Barnsley 4 Corners’ Rocco Brant.

Dalby was ultra-aggressive but the judges preferred Brant’s backfoot work. Micky’s trio Archie Story, Harley Bairstow and Billy Panther were beaten on unanimous decisions.

Kiegan Platter, Kodi Thorpe and Kai Spencer were in action in skills contests. Jonny’s Martin Quinn tasted victory for the town centre club. He forced a standing eight count in his bout with Rourky’s Garner Smith.

Barnsley Star’s Charlie Harford lost to Mohammed Yasir, of Wilby Carr.
