ROYAL RESPONSE:
A Darfield couple may well be the first people in the country to receive a letter from the new King.
Harold and Betty Craven, both in their 90s, celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary recently. They earned a well-deserved card from
King Charles and his Queen consort offering their congratulations. Cards are sent to those celebrating their diamond wedding (60th), 65th, 70th wedding anniversaries and every year thereafter. The King’s congratulatory messages consist of a card containing a personalised message and arrive in a special envelope. Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September, her son Charles took the throne and Camilla became the new Queen consort. The couple said they were thrilled to receive the letter.
