Barnsley Ladies defeated while Shaw Lane and Wath men prepare for tough games
BARNSLEY RUFC Ladies were defeated 36-12 at Bishop Auckland on Sunday. The hosts were second-bottom in the Championship North, the second tier in England, but their win moved them up two places.
Barnsley are now seventh with three wins and four losses from their seven matches so far.
They now have a weekend off before hosting second-placed Cheltenham Tigers on December 3.
Meanwhile, Barnsley’s men are due back in action tomorrow when they host Yorkshire League Two leaders Wensleydale.
It is a top against bottom clash as the Shaw Laners are on minus 15 points, having lost their seven completed matches and withdrawn from three others for which they were docked points.
Barnsley are expected to go down this season as they are currently 28 points from safety.
Wath, who beat Barnsley 59-7 in both teams’ most recent game, are due to visit second-bottom Harrogate Pythons tomorrow.
Wath are currently fourth, eight points behind the Pythons.
Tomorrow’s matches will mark the halfway point in the 22-game season.
