Help for elderly

HUNDREDS of slow cookers and food vouchers are being delivered to elderly people across the borough.

Barnsley Council provided funds to Age UK for the ‘vital lifeline’ so residents do not have to choose between heating and eating this winter.

Age UK chief executive Debby Bunn said: “We are immensely proud to be doing our bit to support those in greatest need through our exciting Slow and Tasty project, which sits alongside our wide range of services that will support older residents this winter.”
