Micropub in Gawber is given the go-ahead
A NEW drinking establishment is on its way to Gawber after plans were approved by the council.
An application was originally submitted in May, by applicant Jed Roberts, to change a shop on Redbrook Road into a micropub.
These plans were given the green light by the council’s planning board earlier this week and will be created within the next three years, subject to a number of agreements.
A decision notice states: “The shop front windows shall be fixed shut and the doors to the development shall be kept closed during the hours of operation, apart from to allow ingress and egress of personnel.
“There shall be no music played within the pub to reduce or remove adverse impacts on health and the quality of life, especially for people living and/ or working nearby.
“There shall be no use of the first floor by customers and the first floor area shall be used only for storage.
“There shall be no outside drinking or smoking.”
The pub is only allowed to be open between the hours of 11am and 10pm.
A management plan added: “The purpose of the proposed micro pub is to provide a safe and friendly environment for customers to meet and chat while enjoying locally sourced craft beers and gins with no disruption to local residents.”
