Population set to go up to 260,000

BARNSLEY’S population is set to reach almost 260,000 in the next three years, a report has suggested.

Currently at around 243,000, according to a council report, the town’s population has been growing since 2001.

It added: “Barnsley’s residents are predicted to reach 257,000 by 2025 and 263,500 by 2030.”
