Revamped post office gets visit

A LOCAL MP visited a refurbished Post Office last month.

John Healey, MP for Wentworth and Dearne, visited the newly-refurbished site on Melton High Street in West Melton.

New owners, Subhash and Mayur Khunti, took over the shop in

July and last month Subhash also became the Postmaster with the branch closing for a month for a big building project and refit.

Subhash and Mayur have extended the premises by knocking through to the property next door which increased the overall floor space to 900sq ft.

John said: “The Post Office and store at Winterwell looks totally different following its renovation.

“It’s been modernised and the whole shop is much bigger.

“It’s great to see that the community has kept its vital post office and at the same time is benefiting from a convenience store offering a wider range of goods.

“I’d like to congratulate Subhash and Mayur on all the improvements that have been made, the investment is a big boost to the area.”
