Transformed Wombwell pub welcomes MP
LOCAL MP Stephanie Peacock recently visited a Wombwell pub which received a six-figure investment earlier this year.
The George Hotel received £111,000 from its owner – Stonegate Group – to transform the look of the pub.
Operator Dawn Spriggs welcomed the MP and even allowed her to pull a pint behind the bar.
Stephanie, who represents Barnsley East, said: “It was a pleasure to visit The George Hotel and see all the enhancements made to the lovely pub.
“It is a great asset to the local community, and it was great to discuss its role with Dawn.”
Dawn said: “Welcoming Ms Peacock to The George Hotel was wonderful – as well as discussing the investment, we talked about our role within the local community and the ways in which we have supported charities and individuals.”
