U18s lose shoot-out at Hillsborough

BARNSLEY under 18s lost 3-1 on penalties at Sheffield Wednesday after a 1-1 draw in the FA Youth Cup at Hillsborough on Wednesday.

The hosts led at half-time but Fabio Jalo won and scored a penalty early in the second half then was taken off ahead of possible involvement with the first team tonight. In the shootout, Josiah Dyer scored but Rafael Monteiro, Jonathan Bland and Charlie Hickingbottom all missed.

Their league game at home to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday was called off.

Barnsley under 21s are due to visit Crewe on Monday from 1pm.
