Evictions threat for 11 households

ALMOST a dozen households in Barnsley were threatened with homelessness by landlords through no fault of their own over a three-month period, new figures have revealed.

According to statistics from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, 11 households were served with a section 21 notice between April and June. Overall, 162 households in Barnsley were identified as homeless or at risk of becoming homeless between April and June, compared to 145 a year before. Of them, 11 were private tenants seeking council support due to falling into arrears on rent.
