Conflict ‘a cynical act executed by Hamas’

lf chanting From the River to the Sea and calling for intifada by some demonstrators is peaceful and not anti-semitic then Tony Nuttall was correct with his letter last week.

But if he looked outside the mainstream media then he will find what he claims has not happened. The Palestine solidarity campaign is an umbrella organisation encompassing lots of extreme left wing organisations such as the socialist workers’ party which he and Mr George Arthur are very familiar with.

This current conflict was a cynical act executed by Hamas knowing that Israel would respond after the October 7 massacre and taking of hostages as a bargaining tool, resulting in Palestinians suffering while Hamas hid in their tunnels and fired rockets from schools and hospitals.

I have never seen or heard at these demonstrations any criticism of Hamas – indeed when I questioned someone on the stall in Barnsley about this they told me the fault lies with the Zionists (said with a sneer) who came to Palestine in 1948.

The fact that these people were the lucky ones who had escaped death in the Holocaust never entered her head, nor if Israel existed in the 1930s six million would not have perished.

Would solidarity campaigners like to publish some evidence that they do not support Hamas who hold vile, anti-semitic views and are unequivocal about the destruction of Israel?
