As the Altered scale can be tricky, let’s take some time in our preparation to ensure that our familiarity and level of dexterity is sufficient, before we attempt it in a harmonic context. Exercise 3 conveys the Altered scale over two complete octaves. Be mindful of the fingering you employ when delivering the structure, as a shift in position at the wrong time can lead to performance discrepancies. As a helpful hint, I tend to immediately move my index finger from the first note to the second.
