Young Jasmine blossoms in solo trek for homeless
Nine-year-old Jasmine Sinclair undertook a 10-mile walk in blistering heat around the city and raised more than £700 for her school and homeless people in Bath.
Jasmine, who attends Oldfield Park Junior School, took off singlehandedly (though watched by her parents and teachers) after school last Thursday on her long quest through Linear Park, the two tunnels, Midford along the tow path and then finishing off at Laura Place on Great Pulteney Street. It was her own idea to do it as she wanted to help her school and also homeless charity Julian House. After completing her challenge Jasmine told the Bath Chronicle: “I wanted to raise money and help people less fortunate than me as well as raising money for my school. “I decided on a 10-mile walk raising money for Julian House as well as Oldfield Park Infant School and Oldfield Park Junior School as this was something challenging that I could do with support from my family and some of my teachers. “It felt amazing at the end, even though it was tiring walking the 10 mile route in the summer heat. “Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed money for all of the causes we are raising money for”. Jasmine lives in Bath with her family and her younger brother Rory attends Oldfield Park Infant School. Her father Rob Sinclair said: “We are so proud of Jasmine, she did it all under her own steam. “She originally expected to raise
£300 but she has more than doubled that. “She received amazing support from her teacher Mrs Van Roy and the head at Oldfield Park juniors Mr Goucher. The whole thing really gained momentum from the original idea. The school was amazing.” She was joined en route by her family who provided cold drinks and refreshments, and there was great celebration at the end of her four hour plus trek in the heat. Jasmine is hoping to increase the amount of money she raised through the walk, and people can still contribute by visiting her justgiving page: www.justgiving.com/ crowdfunding/jasminesinclair?utm_id=1&utm_term= PG8BVEWX6.
